The Ford Ranger gets several notable updates this year, including more standard features on all trim levels and several additional appearance packages. In 2020, the Ford Ranger gets some slightly refreshed styling as well. However, it doesn't need many changes, as it recently returned to the market after a long absence. With a few more tweaks and changes, the Ford Ranger proves that it's better this year than even before. The 2020 Ranger belongs to a competitive class of midsize trucks. One of its competitors is the 2020 GMC Canyon. The Ford Ranger surpasses the GMC Canyon in a number of ways, including the fact that it has a more comfortable interior, more standard safety technology, and more options for a customized exterior appearance.

Performance is one area where the 2020 Ford Ranger excels. The 2020 Ranger is produced in three trim levels. All three trims have the same engine, which is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The engine that powers this year's Ford Ranger is a 2.3L with four cylinders. This engine produces a maximum of 270 HP and 310 LB-FT of torque that also offer respectable towing capabilities. The GMC Canyon, in contrast, falls short of what the Ford Ranger offers for power and performance. The Canyon's 2.5L engine only produces a maximum of 200 HP and 191 LB-FT of torque.

The Ford Ranger is a solid work truck and it has the looks to match. The Ranger's appearance varies slightly by trim level. The base trim is outfitted with automatic headlights and 16-inch steel wheels. Alloy wheels are standard starting with the second trim level. An appearance package called the 301A is available with the top Ranger trim level called the XLT. With this trim, you can choose from a chrome-accented, Sport, or Black exterior package for a custom look. You have a choice of two body styles with all three trims. The GMC Canyon, on the other hand, does not offer as many choices for creating a personalized appearance, as it lacks the special appearance packages available for the Ford Ranger.

Interior and Safety

The Ford Ranger, as you'll discover with all three trim levels, has a comfortable and well-equipped cabin. Even the base model of the Ranger gets a nice set of standard driver-assist safety aids, with more safety features offered through packages. A Wi-Fi hotspot is also standard, which is a rarity for an entry-level trim. The top trim gets a larger infotainment system, heated seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The 2020 GMC Canyon, in contrast, doesn't come standard with a Wi-Fi hotspot, and its seats are noticeable smaller and less comfortable.
